New Horizons Community Wellness Center is a community clinic that offers quality evidenced-based-mental health services to underserved marginalized communities of Southern California. We pride ourselves in serving the community by providing mental health services to all ages (children, adolescents, and adults) and focus on treating families in order to improve their quality of life and to improve society. CLINICAL TRAINING PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Mental Health Clinician

New Horizons Community Wellness Center is a 501c3 non-profit mental health clinic located in Santa Ana, CA and is looking for clinicians to provide office-based mental health services (and possible telehealth services) to children and families in Orange County. 

We are a multicultural and evidence-based training center that is currently seeking Master-level practicum students, predoctoral interns, or postdoctoral residents who seek training and clinical hours. 

The founders of New Horizons CWC, Dr. Daniel Nunez and Dr. Joseph Marquez are licensed clinical psychologists, trained in multiple evidence-based practices (EBPs) and will provide supervision and training:

  • TRAUMA-FOCUSED COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (TF-CBT)
  • INDIVIDUAL COGNITIVE-BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (I-CBT)
  • DIALECTICAL BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (DBT)
  • ACCEPTANCE COMMITMENT THERAPY (ACT)
  • MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING 
  • MULTICULTURAL TRAINING
  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND CLINICAL DOCUMENTATION
  • LAW AND ETHICS 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Provide quality multicultural mental health services that include the following services:  Biopsychosocial interview/assessment; treatment goals and care planning; individual, family, and conjoint therapy; and occasional case management services. 
  • Provide psychoeducational workshops (e.g., parenting classes and anger management groups).  
  • Ensure that all Progress notes and records are accurate and turned in a timely manner (within 24hrs).
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluating the quality and appropriateness of client care.
  • Participate in individual and group supervision, and training seminars. 
  • Comply with company and department policies and procedures, quality assurance, safety, environmental, infection control, and complies with requirements of regulatory agencies.
  • Attend and participate in staff development programs and administrative meetings.
  • Establish and maintain an appropriate network of professional contacts.
  • Opportunities to develop research skills are also available. 
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry standards through professional development.

INTERNSHIP

POSITION QUALIFICATION:


Minimum Education:

Master’s Degree

Minimum Level of Experience:

Masters level and 1 year of experience providing services to clients. Current qualified Intern in one of the following: Pre-Doctorate, Post Doctorate, PSYD, PhD. 

Preferred Experience:

Experience in providing services to children, families, and adults and experience in providing trauma-informed care to clients (is preferred but not a requirement).

TF-CBT training or experience with other EBP that focuses on children and families.

Bi-lingual speaking (in Spanish and Vietnamese) and able to provide services in Spanish and Vietnamese.

Additional Requirements:
Flexibility with hours and scheduling.

Capacity to do both telehealth (when appropriate) and in person.

PRACTICUM
